We have created a beginners guide to all types of car hire in the UK. This includes types of vehicles you can hire, excesses, insurance and re-fuelling policies. If you have any more questions that weren’t answered in this guide, please get in touch.
Hiring a car can be a great way of getting around for holidays in the UK or even if you’re looking to take a road trip around Europe. Please note that companies may charge more if you’re taking the car abroad.
It also gives you the opportunity to do something you’ve always wanted to do, for example driving around in an Aston Martin the some of the UK’s biggest cities. See where you should go.
The process of booking a hire car
Booking may be available to you at airports in the UK, such as Gatwick and Heathrow, but we recommend booking online for a cheaper alternative and to avoid disappointment. You can also book online where you’ll have facts about the car and an entire list of prices depending on your rental period. Check out more information.
When booking online you can select your pick-up and drop-off location, date and time. You can also add on any extras if needed such as baby seats.
Choosing the right vehicle for you
Of course the car you decide to hire will depend massively on the reason you’re hiring. For example if you want to take the entire family around the UK, you’re more likely to hire a 4×4, but if you want to make a great impression at a business event, you’re more likely to hire a sports or executive car. Having the right driving license
If you have planned to take a trip throughout Europe, you MUST check that a UK driving license is valid in the countries you’re travelling to. For more information, see the www.gov.uk website.
In addition, most companies that the driver of the hire car is of a certain age. This normally depends on the car that is up for hire and can depend from 25 to 30. We recommend consulting with the company before putting down any deposits.
